Bad Luck or Destiny? The Upachaya Houses
A man wanted his chart to certify bad luck so he could quit without guilt. The handle of agency was in the upachaya houses, especially the 3rd, not the 9th.
The story
Two businesses had closed and a third loan notice had come. He wanted the astrologer to confirm his luck was bad. At the first payment delay in his new venture he looked only at the 9th house.
The 9th is one lens
The 9th is bhagya and prarabdha. Here it was not serving a ready plate, but the handle of agency was elsewhere.
Upachaya houses
Purushartha in this life is read from the upachaya houses, 3, 6, 10 and 11, which grow with time and effort. The 3rd is the first house of the kama trikona: desire and effort. With consistent karma and the right dasha, the 11th opens toward gains.
Here a malefic sat in the 3rd: struggle, but the courage to out-work weak bhagya.
The lesson
He took prarabdha as final and abandoned kriyamana karma midway. Luck comes in waves with dasha, transit and chalit. Don't make your chart an excuse.
